Entry 3

One Primary Research:The type of primary research that I have decided to do is in the form of a questionnaire.
Objectives: My aim was to find out how women are influenced by magazine advertisments.
I organised my reserch by thinking of questions I believed were suitable for young women to answer based on my critical research question. My questions were all linked to my question.
Advantages: I was able to gain a sense of what females think and believe, through a questionnaire i am able to gain an insite into the most popular advertising, for example the most popular advertising is fragrances and clothing which shows that fashion industry know these are the more popular things that women are interested in.
Disadvantages: Disadvantages are that i was not able to get a wide enough sample of people to test my questionnaire and I still do not know SPECIFIC ways the fashion industry target young woment through advertising in specialist magazines.
Brief Findings:
Changes in title/direction of study as a result of primary research: the fashion indusrty target women through their emotional needs. Some women believe that there is an ovherwhelming amount of advertisments in womens fashion magazines today that is over- riding the magazine content.

I how have One Method and 2 sources:
My method is an article from the internet, where I found two different articles.
1st Source:

Author- Author of mediaed.org.uk
Reliability- My method of information is reliable becuase it gives me information about the different things that are mostly advertised targeted at women and the ways that advertisers go about reaching out to young women. It can be seen as unrealiable becuase it talks about advertising to both women and men which is not the focus of my study. So i will have to eliminate the information about men and leave it only relevant to the study of advertisment effects on women.
Appropriate information- The information that i have is appropriate becuase it will allow me to begin exploring the different advertising targeted at women.

Each source is useful because it allows me to inform myself on the different types of advertising advertisers use in magazines.

Entry 1 Question

How does the fashion industry target young women through advertising in fashion magazines?

I arrived at my question becasue I am interested in researching advertising and how women are targeted through advertising. I then needed to find a source in which to base it on so i choose fashion magazines.

My initial steps for research have been reaearching the main magazines that feature advertisments targeted at young wommen and reearching popular adverts that would appear in magazines.

I have already practiced making a mock questionnaire.
